LISTEN & LEARN / THE £10 GUIDES

Free music, talks and musical history in London

Hear a live recital, join a public discussion or look inside the history of musical instruments. These three starting points are free, with clear distinctions between a scheduled event and a museum you can visit.

For free live music, check LSE’s term-time lunchtime concert programme. For discussion, choose a scheduled LSE public talk. For musical history without a performance booking, the Royal Academy of Music Museum opens to the public on Fridays. Check the date and any registration requirement before travelling.

Put a plan together

For a shared lunchtime, agree on an LSE concert date and meet before the performance so you can enter together. For a talk, choose the subject first and check whether it is in person. Keep any café visit optional: the free activity should stand on its own.
