British Museum: choose one collection

General admission · per adult

Give one collection your attention instead of trying to finish the whole museum. It is a satisfying way to spend an hour and leaves you with a reason to return.

What to expect

The permanent collection is free; some exhibitions cost extra. Book a free timed slot for priority entry and allow for security queues. A tight connection at Euston is a poor reason to rush through here.

Price, without the small print

Free · per adult. General admission. Transport, food and optional extras are outside this activity price.

Before you go

We check details against official sources, but hours, prices and availability can change before this guide is updated. Please check the official website before travelling or booking.

Opening and timing: Daily 10am–5pm; Friday until 8.30pm. Check gallery-specific closures.

Booking: Free booking recommended.

Time to allow: 60–90 min. This is our estimate for a focused visit. Add time for travel, queues and any extra stops.

Access and taking a break

The museum publishes a detailed access guide. Check your intended entrance and galleries; this listing is not a route-level access audit.

Go at your own pace; time estimates exclude travel and queues.

We have not audited a complete step-free route. If a particular access feature matters to you, confirm it with the organisation before travelling.
